A Lower East Side institution, Sammy's Roumanian Steak House is probably most notorious for it bottles of "Schmaltz" (disarmingly yellow chicken fat) that they put on every table, which they zealously encourage you to pour on your steaks. Do so, and you'll invariably fall prety to Sammy's Roumanian Revenge later in the evening. Sammy's also has the honorable distinction of having the only non-phone sex/escort service commercial on Al Goldstein's long forgotten cable access porn program, "Midnight Blue," lending it impeccable cache, of course. Last time I was here (for a friend's bachelor party), the waitress gave us the finger, and the time before that, we sat a table away from David Lee Roth.
