The handiwork of Marcoart Marco. About ten years ago, Marco was a local artist who fancied himself the heir of Keith Haring and Kenny Scharf. His signature style started appearing all over the Lower East Side, and he even opened up his own store, "Marcoart." He really wanted his little stretch of the Lower East Side to become the next arty spot ("LoHo," if you will). I have no idea if he's still around.
