Once an iconic facade in 80's/90's Downtown Manhattan, El Teddy's (itself a largely workaday, once-trendy Mexican restaurant/bar) used to sport a replica of Lady Liberty's crown jutting out from its roof, and was featured prominently during the opening montage of NYC images for "Saturday Night Live" and fleetingly in Martin Scorcese's "After Hours". Not only did it close, but they tore the sucker down. It used to look like this, though....
