Neighborhood standby watering hole. When I lived on E.12th street, this was practically my second living room. Nice, old world interior with beautiful cedar bar (hence the name?). Many folks are keen to tell you that this was the bar where local bohemians and artists like Jackson Pollack used to congregate and -- in Pollack's case -- start fights. That's actually a fib, though, as the original Cedar Bar was initially down the street between 8th & 9th streets. That building was demolished, and the Cedar decamped up the avenue.
