Oliver and I went to see The English Beat (or....rather... Dave Wakeling and a bunch of dudes) and Adam Ant, last night, at the Palladium Times Square. This venue is an old movie theater housed on the ground floor of 1515 Broadway, where I used to work during my fleeting tenure at MTV News Online. In fact, this was the first time I'd been back in that building since the morning I was laid off in July of 2007. So, yeah, that was odd.
Both the Beat and Adam were in top form, and way better than I'd ever have expected (especially Adam). Oliver had a great time, and is now a total convert.
But this post isn't about any of that. I've banged this gong before, but this post is about the twit in front of us who insisted on videoing absolutely every goddamn song during Ant's set without the slightest semblance of situational awareness.
NO ONE will ever be interested in watching your shaky, hand-held, poor-sound-quality iPhone videos of whatever show you went you. EVEN YOU probably won't watch them.
Go to your show. Enjoy yourself. Savor the experience. Hell, even take a picture or two, ... but then PUT YOUR FUCKING PHONE AWAY!!!
DO NOT BEHAVE LIKE THIS WOMAN!
