My social media feeds have been a frenzy of people tagging, mentioning or asking if I’m interested in, excited about or planning to attend the just-announced, allegedly final performance by my once-beloved KISS at Madison Square Garden this coming December on the End of the Road tour. Let me nip that shit in the bud right now.
As far as this longtime conscientious objector in the KISS Army is concerned, the band stopped being a band I genuinely cared about once the great ruse of putting Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer into the fabled guises of Ace Frehley and Peter Criss was initiated. It’s not that they were bereft of problems before that particular caper, but to me, that was the last straw ... the dealbreaker, as goofily histrionic as that might sound. I got to see the original line-up of KISS perform for the final time back on the – god help me – Psycho Circus tour in 1998.
That’s all I need, thanks.
