In the wake of the unimaginable deaths of two of his sons, Nick Cave has undergone a profound transformation. In his latest book, “Faith, Hope & Carnage,” he concedes that he’ll most likely never make another noisy, guitar-based rock’n’roll record ever again, suggesting that he wouldn’t even know how to begin. And while I do appreciate his more recent elegiac works like Skeleton Tree and the sprawling Ghosteen, I cannot help but mourn the departure of the more feral, bloodthirsty exhorter that was the Nick Cave I first discovered in the late `80s.
Meanwhile, Nick's Red Hand Files continues to be a great source of inspiring discourse. Find that here.
