Some big news for music geeks, movie nerds and brazen `80s nostalgists like myself, this week, is that a record label named Demon Music is releasing an exhaustive box set comprised of all the songs director and Brat Pack-auteur John Hughes used in his iconic, coming-of-age films (and some selections he’d handpicked that didn’t make the final cuts). They’re all to be culled into a compilation called -- wait for it -- Life Moves Pretty Fast – The John Hughes Mixtapes.
Why am I bringing this up, you ask?
Well, I don’t mean to sound petty or anything, but back in 2013, some of you may remember a post I put together here that ruminated on the cinematic tropes of the teenaged bedroom, as best exemplified by the celebrated boudoir of Ferris Bueller. Given that said décor broadcasted Ferris’ apparent love for certain, specific variants of music, I thoughtfully appended that post with a playlist of my own.
And what did I call that playlist? Life Move Pretty Fast – The Mixtape
Sure, maybe it wasn't that original an idea, but … just sayin’.
