The Pit was on St. Mark's Pl., pretty much right next to where Manic Panic was, in that little strip of store fronts sunken a couple of steps below street level. It was basically a place where you'd get leather outfits, with "bikers" being the demographic, I guess. It was a good place to get cool metal pins (skulls, iron crosses, etc.) for your leather jacket.

Yes. The Pit was at 31 St Marks and became Zen Noodles. A fetish store. Mentioned here: http://www.nysonglines.com/8st.htm

Zen Noodles Cafe at 31 St Marks already appears in Desperately Seeking Susan (1985) so The Pit pre-dates that.
