I’m afraid to say I really don’t know too much about this one, but being that it features Manhattan circa 1984, along with the added bonus of a cameo from Pete Steele and Lou Beateaux of the band Carnivore (right), I thought I’d share it here.
Titled “Driving Through Brooklyn To NYC, 1984” and posted by one Richard Termini, this three-&-a-half minute video shows just that … although one could pedantically point out that Brooklyn is wholly part of NYC, so it really should have been titled “Driving through Brooklyn to Manhattan, 1984,” or “Driving through Brooklyn to Greene Street, 1984” or “Driving through Brooklyn to SoHo, 1984.” You get the point, I’m sure.
I have no idea who the main dudes of this video here are or where they are today, but at around 2:26, they run into the Carnivore gents back in Brooklyn, working on a car, as one does. There’s a quick moment wherein they’re listening to their own song, “God Is Dead,” with Pete miming along emphatically, as one also does. Enjoy
In later years, of course, Pete dissolved Carnivore and formed Type O Negative, who enjoyed a good deal more success. Sadly, Pete Steele left us in 2010.
Rest in Peace, Pete.
