Regarding this ridiculous story, if I'm not mistaken, the coinage of the term "to 86 someone" actually originates right here in NYC, stemming from the practice of forcibly removing someone from the premises of age-old speakeasy (since-turned-revoltingly bespoke eatery) Chumley's in the West Village, which I referenced most recently here.
If you were selected to be thrown out of the bar, you were ushered out via its backdoor on 86 Bedford Street....hence "86'd."
It has nothing to do with murder (that's "Deep 6").
