I wrote at great, needless length about my fandom for Rush on this ancient post, so I shan't bother rehashing same now, although I will reprise my recollection of beers in the cold dark of night with select, likely high school classmates at "Club 79" (basically, the park benches tucked just behind the entrance to Central Park at East 79th Street & Fifth Avenue). While furtively sipping our contraband beverages under the cover of night, we'd accompany our imbibing with high volume boombox airings of various favorite artists, the go-to's being AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Run-DMC, Houdini, Kurtis Blow and -- at the behest of our since-fallen friend Mike -- robust airings of side one of 2112 by Rush. To this day, I cannot hear it without thinking of those evenings.
Here, meanwhile, is the "Peanuts" gang tackling same...
Crank it, you blockheads!
