From the Crest of No Wave

The great Bob Bert evangelized this on his Facebook page this morning, and it is indeed something cool worth sharing wide.

Photographer and designer Julia Gorton recently launched her own Instagram page. The layperson may not be immediately familiar wth her name, but Gorton’s images of characters like Lydia Lunch (above), Anya Philips and James Chance — to name a small few — helped illustrate the visual style and impact of downtown NYC during the fertile-if-fleeting period of post-punk dubbed No Wave.

She’s only 21 pictures in, but it promises to be something to watch. Check it out.
