I like that!

I wish I knew what Flaming Pablum meant. Is it because I'm British?!

Alex in NYC

Well, technically .... v. flamed, flam·ing, flames
v. intr.
To burn brightly; blaze.
To color or flash suddenly: cheeks that flamed with embarrassment.
Informal. To make insulting criticisms or remarks, as on a computer network, to incite anger.

pab·lum P Pronunciation Key (pblm)
Trite, insipid, or simplistic writing, speech, or conceptualization: “We have to settle for the pablum that passes for the inside dope” (Julie Salamon).

To be honest, I don't even remember thinking of it. I'd gone through a succession of uninspired names in the first week of this blog's existence, and then simply settled on this one.

It reminds me, in a way, of an interview I read with an Australian garage band called the Died Pretty. Someone asked them specifically what it meant, and they were completely unenthused. Something to the effect of "It's just a succession of letters arranged on a marquee that indicates that we're playing there this evening." That's pretty much how I feel about the name "Flaming Pablum" at this point.

Thankyou for this reply!
I wondered in Pablum was used often over there. I like Flaming Pablum, for what it's worth. I also like that Welsh word, though it's probably not as searchable. Anyway, enjoy your snow, and thanks again for the reply!

The real question remains, what the hell does "vassifer" mean?
