Well, after about six days of inaccessibility, it looks like Typepad may have sorted out their problems. For more about the shadowy circumstances (involving ransom notes and such), click here. I guess it's just a sign of the times.
In any case, during my blackout ... or should that be blogout? ... not only was any semblance of momentum lost, but there were also some notable happenings, foremost among them being the news that Kim's on First Avenue is now slated the close (hot on the heels of Shakespeare & Co. and countless other spots) and that the former space occupied by Bleecker Street Records (not Bleecker Bob's mind you ... a distinction that was lost on a few folks) is now to become a -- WAIT FOR IT -- Starbuck's.
News like this pretty much makes my head spin, and it's as if proceedings of this kind are reaching a new, sobering velocity. I'll address this and other points shortly.
