Yes, I know I’m continuing to break my self-imposed hiatus, but I would be remiss in not posting this.
First spotted via Gothamist, herewith the Museum of the City of New York’s sprawling collection of photographs of New York City by one Edmund V. Gillon. It is much like this discovery from back in 2012.
Gillon’s pictures (like the one below of the Christadora House on Avenue B, or the one above of my beloved Cedar Tavern on University Place) capture a city that is barely recognizable to is contemporary incarnation.
All in all, there are 21 pages of amazing images. Be prepared to spend hours. You’re welcome.
