I've spoken about the New York Hardcore Chronicles 1979-2015 Facebook page before, but even if you're not a fan of bands like Kraut, Heart Attack and Reagan Youth, it's well worth liking their page, as they've been regularly posting amazing vintage NYC pics like the one above. Unfortunately, I can't put a date or photographer name on the picture above, but that's indeed the fabled Gem Spa on the corner of St. Mark's Place and Second Avenue. I'd have to suggest this pic was snapped in the 70's at some point. You can still see the line of phone booths that later appeared in that photo of the New York Dolls I spoke about a while back. Just down Second Avenue a little bit, you can still see the signage for Freebeing Records (which I wrote about back here).
