Yep, it’s another one of these (you may remember another Super8 film from a decade later).
Dangerous Minds exhumed this curious, twenty-minute home movie by one Irving Schneider of New York City in the early `70s, pairing it with a somewhat windy rumination about fashion and punk that doesn’t quite gel with the visuals. You can read that here if you want, but it’s really all about the video.
Watching this video doesn’t quite conjure that same feeling of “oh, not much has changed” that some similar clips have done. While, yes, you’ll doubtlessly recognize several key landmarks, the clothes, the fashions, the hairstyles, the cars and, well, just the whole vibe exudes such a sense of otherness. This place doesn't exist anymore.
