"New York City has become a more exclusive, less affordable and crushingly less interesting place to live as a result. That's not an opinion either, that's a fact."

I agree 1000%.

I've lived in the city for almost 30 years and when I've made the same comments to a few friends who have lived here as long or maybe even grew up here, sometimes I get looked at like I'm some whining cry baby who can't deal with 'change' and how 'things are always changin in New York and always have'. Not like this. I'm not the same person I was 30 years ago, and I think that may have something to do with the way I see the city now, but I haven't lost my memory and from what I a place that was far more exciting and interesting than it is now. Why some people fail to see that is beyond me. It's something that is actually very upsetting and when I see people just shrug their shoulders about it it drives me kinda batty. In fact, I see almost no reason to stay here any longer and deal with all the hardships of city living. Instead of the great cultural mecca the city once was it has in alot of ways just become a crowded place with tall buildings. Creative, interesting arty types don't come here any longer..they can't afford to.
