As mentioned in that earlier post, when not playing guitar for bands like Letch Patrol, Roach Motel, False Prophets, Iron Prostate, the Gynecologists and Furious George, and not penning screeds for MaximumRockandRoll and New York Press, George produced "Destroy Television," one of the "longest-running punk rock cable shows," wherein he'd showcase live performances from local bands, exhume archival footage and indulge in lots of endearingly amateurish cable access shenanigans like a not-so-suburban "Wayne's World."
I can't remember when I first stumbled upon "Destroy TV," but I was instantly a fan. Below find a nine-minute highlight reel, featuring fleeting footage of the False Prophets, the Dead Boys, the Ramones, Furious George, The Dwarves, the Vacant Lot, Sea Monkeys, The Chimpanzees, the Dictators, New Republic, Iron Prostate, Letch Patrol, the Gynecologists, TIm Yohanonhan of MaximumRockandRoll, GG Allin, Johnny Thunders, The Cramps, Unk from Pigpen, the Action Swingers, Stiffs, Inc., Chicken Head and, as they say, much, much more.
Even if you're not a fan of the bands or scene in question, enjoy the vanished local color of Third Avenue's Space at Chase, CBGB and other shots of the Lower East Side.
