It was inevitable, I suppose. Grim news came down today from my pals at Bowery Boogie. Word round the campfire now is that Bleekcer Bob’s is within spitting distance of its final closing date. Worse still is the news of what will take its place in that hotly-prized sliver of Manhattan real estate.
No, it’s not going to be a Starbucks or a bank or even a 7-11. Nope, it’s going to become a frozen yogurt emporium. Yeah, `cos ya know … we really, really need another one of those.
I popped into Bleecker Bob’s not too long back for a casual look around (see a favorite title spotted amidst Bob’s dusty racks above). I’ve documented my history with the place on a couple of other posts, so I won’t bother getting back into all of that again. In any case, these days I find it hard to walk past it without feeling the urge to step inside. If you feel a similar urge, you may want to take full advantage of it while you can.
