I first wrote about the album cover above back in 2011. Those mysterious silhouettes used to be all over downtown, and were the work of one Richard Hambleton. Back on that post, I also featured a collaboration between Hambleton and Jean-Michel Basquiat that always mystified me (can you name the location?). In any case, I'm only bringing it back up this morning, as I was sad to read earlier this week on Bowery Boogie that Hambleton -- a pioneer of New York City street art -- is being evicted from his Orchard Street studio. Once again, New York City eats its own.

Incidentally, like anybody cares, but I believe the location of the cover photo of The Groups of Wrath up top was the wall of a parking lot on Spring and Hudson streets. I just remember seeing a wider version of the photograph at some point. Don't bother looking for Hambleton's work there now, obviously. It's long since been painted-over.
