Parks and Occupation

So the "Occupy Wall Street" gang came on up to my `hood today for one of their group-shoutalongs (pardon me, "general assemblies") in Washington Square Park, right in the shadow of the arch. Herewith a few of the sights. It was all a bit chaotic --- and very hot -- but everyone seemed pretty well behaved (or at least while I was there). There were a few characters in the throng -- notably one dude dressed like a pirate -- but mostly it was comprised of "regular folks" (i.e. fewer mohawks, dreadlocks and much less face paint than much of he media might have you believe). The whole "people's mic check" thing still strikes me as a bit weird. I can't help thinking about this scene from "Life of Brian" every time I hear them do it.
