I was never a massive Prince fan. The first time I ever saw him was via a video for "Why U Wanna Treat me So Bad?" which did little to endear me to him. I couldn't argue with the hook of "1999," though. I didn't actually buy a Prince LP until the soundtrack of "Purple Rain" made it sorta mandatory. Beyond that, he got a little hit or miss for me (although I still think "My Name is Prince" doesn't get nearly enough recognition). He's also just a little too prolific for me to keep up with.
But the ol' boy came out over the long weekend to proclaim that "the Internet's completely over," and that he'll never sell any of his music online. Being that I am in an ever-dwindling minority of people that still likes to purchase music as a tactile artifact (instead of a digital file plucked from the ether), I applaud the sentiment, although he kinda went a bit heroically overboard in suggesting that the Internet in its gestalt is finished. Not sure I'd go that far, but kudos for the balls for saying so, Prince!
So, before the funky purple Luddite yanks this from the Internet, please enjoy!
