Funny, I was just discussing how Fanelli's was one of the few interesting places left in SoHo. I also haven't been there in a long time, and interestingly enough, we also concluded that Milady's was even more interesting, and was a very non-SoHo place surviving in the middle of SoHo.

I agree. I generally have fond memories of this place, but the fact is that I have no reason to be in Soho at all, in fact its one of those areas of Manhattan I positively dislike. So I wonder if the days aren't numbered for old school places like this, the crowd attracted to them is just too pissed off by the surrounding area to still go to them.

Try going in there late on a Sunday night. It's all locals, the bartenders are surly and old time and they give a generous pour. Otherwise, best to avoid it.
