I should probably preface this by saying that I've never liked Chloë Sevigny. Didn't think much of her in "Kids." Didn't think much of her in "Last Days of Disco." I can't say I've seen her in anything I've enjoyed watching. Whatever. I'm sure she's a lovely individual (and I have it on reasonably good authority that she has taste enough to own the first Killing Joke album), but beyond that, I think she's somewhat insufferable.
Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't be discussing her, but my pal EV Grieve put up a clip last weekend from the unfortunately-named Bust Magazine wherein Chloë – looking rather disquietingly like the late Kurt Cobain -- ruminated about the East Village (featuring a fleeting cameo appearance by my old colleague Mike Zohn inside his fabulous East Village curio emporium, Obscura – a place you should all go visit!!). In any case, I have a hard time listening to Sevigny speak without gagging, but you might enjoy it (y'know, if you enjoy being lectured on local history from a twelve-year-old). Gothamist decided to "bite" Grieve's "steez" by re-posting it today (without citing him). So I'm correcting that shameful oversight.
Then again, maybe they just found it in the same way Grieve found it. Regardless, I thought I'd needlessly cite it here too. Huzzah.
