There was a formal-ish memorial for Joe "Peeler Man" Ades on Sunday on the southern steps of Union Square Park, but I spotted this makeshift shrine to the man closer to his (now gated-off) old familiar perch on the northwestern end of the park on my walk to work this morning. I find the public outpouring of grief over this curious, affable man and his remarkable story to be genuinely touching, especially in these dark, cynical times.
More of the Peeler Man can be found here.
