Seeing The Cramps live was truly one of those fleeting amazing experiences. Even after scads of volatile rock shows, when the house lights dimmed and the crowd erupted, I instantly got that rarified "Holy Crap, they're actually in the room!" feeling. I can't accurately describe watching Poison Ivy Rorschach assume the stage, followed by the disarmingly towering Lux Interior (resembling a bug-eyed cross between Iggy Pop and Herman Munster ... in high-heels). I believe it was the pulchritudinous Candy Del Mar on second guitar. I don't think the mighty drummer Nick Knox was with them at the time, unfortunately. I'll never forget it.
I already cited my favorite Cramps tune in that last post, but the one below has always been a keeper as well. "Can Your Pussy Do The Dog?" is another a close third as well -- I remember getting a bracing scream-at from the corduroy-jacketed faculty advisor of my college radio station after I played that single on air one balmy afternoon. My explanation was that "it was about dancing." Yeah, right.
