Just spotted this sad item over on Jeremiah's Vanishing New York. Evidently Love Saves The Day, the endearingly eccentric vintage clothing/memorabilia emporium on the corner of 2nd Avenue and East 7th Street is closing its doors for good. As Jeremiah points out, it was bound to happen. Still, it's yet another nail in the coffin of the East Village's fading, fabled character. The photo above was taken by Will from over at A Test of Will.
Oh, and yes -- Love Saves the Day is the shop wherein Madonna swaps her pyramid jacket in exchange for some diamond-studded boots in "Desperately Seeking Susan," for those of you who care about that sort of thing. Maybe Madonna will fly in on her broom at the last minute and help the shop out. Hold not thy breath.
