I've actually put this video up before, but it was ages ago. In any case, as a very late addition to the collection of music videos EV Grieve and I were citing that prominently feature New York City, here's a real treasure. It's not that "Run and Run" by the Psychedelic Furs is that great a song (it's certainly not their best -- that being either "India" or "Love My Way," for my money), but in terms of capturing downtown Manhattan circa 1982, it's truly time-capsule material. Herein, the `Furs can be seen cavorting down 6th Avenue in Greenwich Village and signing autographs at the West 8th Street incarnation of late, lamented Venus Records, surrounded by high-haired refugees from a vintage John Hughes film. Also look for Battery Park, the old Gramercy Park Hotel and -- I *think* -- the Cherry Tavern on East 6th Street. Lastly, there are some fleeting shots of the mural that used to line the walls of the southern end of Sullivan street (featuring figures that looked as if they stepped right off the cover of the first Tom Tom Club album).
