I was always a Boston fan. Even after hearing bands like the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, Devo and Black Flag for the first time, I still never renounced that strenuously fastidious and slick arena rock juggernaut led by meticulous studio whiz kid Tom Scholz. Who could argue with those first two records? Sure, Punk Rock may have branded bands like Boston dinosaurs overnight, but I never really subscribed to those narrow policies. Why couldn't Boston and the Buzzcocks happily co-exist on my record shelf? After all, to quote 7 Seconds, if we can walk together, why can't we rock together?
In any case, while I'm still mourning the tragic passing of Boston's vocalist Brad Delp last year, today came news of another reason to salute the band. Tom Scholz is evidently wicked pissed off at Republican Presidential hopeful, Mike Huckabee for using "More Than A Feeling" at campaign events and sent the candidate a letter telling him where to stick it.
Take that, Mike, you creepy Creationist pro-lifer!
