I know I've been super lame about posting lately, but give a man a break -- I've been stressed out and busy. In any event, in yet another post that sends you off the page, herewith two items today that made me laugh out loud.
First up, The Giraffes (pictured at left). They don't have a new album out or anything, but they're playing here in May at the Mercury Lounge. Don’t be fooled by their unassuming zoological moniker, the Giraffes are a Brooklyn outfit who play loud, libidinous rock without a grave concern for repercussion. Always ready to shock and offend (the sole headline on the "news" page of their website proclaims "THERE IS NO GOD"), the band specializes in rude hilarity in all its permutations. In any case, the latest blog entry on their MySpace page had me laughing heartily, almost forgetting my Stooge-enforced headache. Do czech it out if you enjoy prurient immaturity.
Next up, this item in Idolator about the plight of former Germs drummer, Don Bolles. It's not that I think it's funny that he's been busted by the notoriously unsympathetic LAPD for carrying a hemp-related product around, but that Idolator suggests that the product in question, Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Liquid Castille Soap, sounds like "a terrible ragtime-zydeco band." Bahaha!
