While I spend inordinate amounts of time devoting this weblog to a New York City that is slowly devouring itself (while I mopily stand by clenching my fists and shouting vindictive things at real estate developers), certain friends of mine are out there seeing the world and blogging about it accordingly. I've cited them on the bar to the left, but I just thought I'd give them another big shout out here.
First up, our friends Katherine and Phil (and their new little addition, Jack), who have spent the last couple of years in Laos, and traveling around its neighboring countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. If you're at all curious about that part of the world, their weblog, Life on the Mekong, offers a fascinating glimpse.
Similarly, my friend Tod [A] (erstwhile lead singer/strategist of Firewater and sullen Brooklynite-turned-citizen-of-the-world) bid the badlands of Bushwick, Brooklyn farewell a couple of years back and has been boppin' around various parts of the globe (notably Thailand, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Bali and several points in between) ever since. Tod's latest entry details his experiences on an Israeli Kibbutz. Check it out.
