The Mystery of 190 Bowery

I received an e-mail out of the proverbial blue this morning regarding a photo I'd put up in the Vanishing Downtown Photo Album, from a gentleman with the somewhat unlikely name of Jazequah Codslayer. Mr. Codslayer writes:

hello.

i was fooling around with the google search engine and entered "190 bowery"
to see what might come up, and the first entry was yours.  the caption
stated that it had no signs of life.

that address is where a well known photographer by the name of Jay Maisel
lives.  It was a bank he bought circa 1960 for 100k.  He has lived and
operated his business from there ever since.  I used to date a woman
employed there in the mid 1990's.
