Ahoy gang. Well, it's Friday afternoon, and I'm slowly preparing to take off for yet another weekend out on the `Island, trying to squeeze the last few nice days out of the Summer before it all ends. So until I'm back in front of a computer again come Monday, I'll leave you with one of my favorite old videos, "Breakaway" by a since-forgotten Australian ensemble from the late 80's, Big Pig. Known for their hugely percussive sound, inexplicable leather aprons and the robust vocals of fabulous babe, Sherine Abeyratne, Big Pig didn't make more than a one-hit-wonder impression here in the States, slipping into obscurity shortly after their debut album, Bonk. They made a second album, but it was never released here and I've never been able to find it. Honestly, the rest of Bonk isn't wildly memorable, but this track's a keeper (or I think so, anyway), rife with big, thumping drums. Play it loud and jump around like the 80's never ended.

I'm sitting here watching a show about the 70's and 80's right now and it has brought back so many good memories. :) I had my son is 82 so I enjoyed the 80's very much. :)

"big hotel " and "hungry town" are instantly classic.during the taping of a justifier video for second album sherie had a concept of wearing a pink leather album but the other men wanted her to wear blue denim.this broke the band up.
