While out for a stroll just this afternoon, I was exceptionally saddened to learn that my beloved Rocks In Your Head is leaving its decades-old home on Prince Street in Soho and de-camping to Williamsburg in shitty Brooklyn. While I'm relieved that they'll still be in business, it's otherwise the end of an era and one less reason to ever set foot in Soho.
Apologies to Brooklyn, by the way. You're not really shitty. You're just not Manhattan. And never will be.
Remember buying Sonic Youth there. I recall asking whoever was behind the counter if Sister was as noisy as EVOL. Anyway, they had an interesting filing system-the bins had just the album covers, which you brought up to the counter for the actual vinyl to be placed inside the cover. Not sure how they knew how to connect the two.
(I know, I’m 14 years late in posting my comment)
