Great post. I'm feeling a lot of the same ache that you do, and I've only been here 3.5 years! I guess it just shows we work with some really interesting and awesome people, and that's never an easy thing to let go.

Best of luck, buddy. I hope you don't lose any zip on the fastball and I expect to get news from you first when Britney Spears finally decides to pose for Playboy.

Good luck Alex. I don't do well with change either. I bitch and gripe and cling to the past beyond what's really rational. I'm sure it will be awkward at first, but I'm also sure you'll do fine.

about time, dude! if it helps, I was there for ten years, and while I had tons of friends, leaving was certainly one of the best decisions I've made in my life. one of those same journalists you mention above (William Oscar Johnson, who actually covered the JFK assassination for Time) told me once that being a TWinc-ie was a "velvet coffin", so it'll be good for you to breathe some non T-L building air again.

anyway, congrats, hope the new job goes great!
