CBGB's Rally in Washington Square Park TODAY

For those of y'all who are following this ongoing debacle, there is a benefit rally being thrown this afternoon (in about twenty minutes, actually) for CBGB's (see the details by clicking right here). Blondie will be performing, which is pretty cool (tho' I'm not quite sure what to make of Institute, featuring Gavin Rossdale, formerly of Grunge-No-Hope-Wannabes, Bush). Whether or not the rally is really necessary any more is called into question by this report in Newsday, that says that Mayor Mike Bloomberg is joining the cause, presumably adding some much needed financial muscle to keep the club afloat and on the map.

I'm planning on checking it out....once my daughter wakes up from her nap, that is. And if the cloudy tentacles of Katrina don't unleash a downpour like they're threatening to.
