Early last year, I wrongly speculated about the demise of Subterranean Records on Cornelia Street. This past weekend, though, I walked by its door a couple of times, only to find the gate down and locked in both instances (on beautiful weekend days when business would otherwise seem hopeful). Looks like it may finally be gone. I hope I'm wrong again, but it doesn't look promising.
He's been closed for a few months now & he's not coming back unfortunately. The good thing is I think he's happy about it.

Winter Hours always gave you a great deal if you paid in cash. I pretty much bought out Carlucci of his Thin Lizzy LPs, never paying more than half of the sticker price. Try asking for a deal at Bleeker Records.
After an hour in Subterranean your fingers were smudged, your skin and hair was layered with an oily slick, and you were probably a little closer to having lung cancer.
But it DID feel like another world and you rarely left unsatisfied. Too bad it's gone, but I am not surprised by the first comment, and I hope it's true.
