This week, however, I just love the cover image so much that I thought I'd revive the practice. In case it's too small to make out from the picture to the left, the cover illustration (titled "The Book Lovers" by Adrian Tomine) shows a woman accepting a package from a UPS man. Her face is smitten with a degree of guilt as she looks over at her neighbor. Her neighbor is a merchant opening the door to his bookshop, and her package is from Amazon. Look well, for it's this very scenario that's forcing independent mom'n'pops out of business.
Elsewhere in the ish, I penned the blurbs in the Nightlife section of the "Goings On About Town" listings about Horse the Band, Swervedriver, Mission of Burma, The Futureheads, Mudhoney, Donita Sparks & the Stellar Moments and The Breeders. If you can't be arsed to go buy a copy, you can simply click here to read my blurbage.
A new Breeders album, eh? Is it any good?
Nice blurbs, BTW.

Actually, Amazon's used marketplace has been a boon to many secondhand bookstores.

Great post! I noticed the cover, too, and mentioned it in my blog today.
